Thank you for taking a look at my paintings. I’ve been a photographer most of my adult life, but one way or another my existence has actually revolved around oil painting. My father is a celebrated painter, and the same can be said of my little sister. We all grew up with oil paint, brushes, easels and frames everywhere. Instead of just laundry and cooking, oil and turpentine was the smell of our home. As a kid I watched in awe as my mother and father created masterpieces on an almost daily basis. Then my sister came up with her own unique style that really grabbed everyone’s attention. Painting was such a huge part of my families existence that I really decided it was best that I do something else. Over the years in photography I have had a great amount of success for that I am both equally grateful and proud. During that time I also studied with my father to learn the art of oil painting. I didn’t intend to become a painter myself, but just to learn about his process. In more recent times I’ve gone back to study painting again, but this time I realized to truly learn the art of oil painting I need to just paint for myself, learn and solve problems in creative ways. Paint how I see and feel the world, just as in photography, but now able to express beyond the limits of even my own imagination.
